"And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you"
Luke 11: 9
(from the Gospel for the seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C)
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you managed to have some quality time with your children over the break. It is important in our busy lives to take some time out to appreciate what is truly important; our families, friends and our relationship, centred in gratitude, with our God.
The children have returned to school full of energy and enthusiasm ready to learn. We have some big events in the coming weeks beginning with our NAIDOC celebration tomorrow (Friday 26 July). We have the Western Region Athletics carnival on Friday 9 August and the SHIPS athletics carnivals on Friday 16 July at Tudor House.
In Week 3 on Wednesday 6 August, our school will be hosting the annual “Year 6 Mass with the Bishop”. We will be holding Mass in the school hall for the Year 6 children from St Paul’s Camden, St Anthony’s Picton, St Micheal’s Mittagong, St Thomas Aquinas Bowral along with our own Year 6 children. In total we will have around two hundred children and staff visiting our school. There will be a music concert for all our Year 6 visitors after Mass.
Our Wakakirri children and staff have been working very hard on their performance piece. They will perform this at WIN stadium on Friday 9 August. The performance commences at 7pm. We will be bussing children to Wollongong for a rehearsal on the afternoon of Friday 9 August. The children are very excited and looking forward to what will be a memorable experience.
We are being visited by the Director of School Mr Peter Turner on Wednesday 14 August. Mr Turner will visit the children in the classrooms. We are discussing the future building plans that are in progress for St Paul’s.
Our Year 6 students will begin preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation with the first sacramental class to be held on Sunday 11 August. Enrolment papers can be collected at the weekend Masses if you haven’t already done so. They are due back to the parish office on Monday 29 July by 1pm. Confirmation will be held on Saturday 21 September with Bishop Brian.
This is a busy and exciting term. We look forward to seeing you all join us for these many and varied events. We always work in partnership in the best interests of the children in our school and community.

Mission Star Awards
This term, in addition to the school’s current award system, we will be adding a new classroom award to tie in with the work we are doing around mission. The aim of the award is to recognise students who live out our Christian values in their words and actions. Each week, a student from each class will be awarded the ‘Mission Star Award’ because they have responded out of love in some way. This will occur in the classroom so that students can have their name displayed on the ‘Mission Star’ poster. Some examples of missionary actions include showing forgiveness, including others and helping out those in need. Each week, the recipient names will be advertised in the school newsletter.
