“As for you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”
Luke 9: 60
(from the Gospel for the thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C)
Dear Parents and Carers,
First Communion
Last weekend we celebrated thirty eight children from our parish who received First Holy Communion. The children and their families have been preparing through their participation in the parish sacramental program over the past months. It was most appropriate that our children received their First Communion in our parish church on the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (traditionally known as Corpus Christi). It was a glorious day and joyous celebration. Our Year 3 class will attend weekly class Mass today where they will received Communion.
St Peter and St Paul Feast Day Parish Mass and Dinner- Saturday 29 June
On Saturday, at the 5pm Mass the parish will celebrate our parochial feast day. Peter Kearney, a renowned liturgical musician and composer will provide music at the Mass. After Mass there will be dinner at Moss Vale RSL for those who have accepted the open invitation.
Feast of St Peter and St Paul Whole School Mass- now Tuesday 2 July at 12 noon
The school will now be celebrating our parochial feast day with a whole school Mass on Tuesday 2 July at 9:30 am. This feast is a significant day in the life of our parish and school. Saints Peter and Paul were the Apostles who were instrumental in the establishment of the early church and sharing the Word throughout the Mediterraen world. St Paul’s role as an evangelist and author the large parts of the New Testament remains for us a role model in sharing the lived experience of Jesus’ message of hope, joy and salvation.
Athletics Carnival Presentation Assembly- tomorrow Friday 28 June at 2:15pm
We will be presenting the children with their ribbons at tomorrow’s Friday afternoon assembly. Please note that we will be commencing assembly at 2:15pm to ensure we have sufficient time to make all the presentations. Assembly will conclude at the normal time.
Semester 1 reports
Children in Years 1 to 6 will receive their Semester 1 reports tomorrow Friday 28 June. The reports will be shared digitally via the COMPASS app. We have conducted parent information sessions and written advice about the use of COMPASS. Kindergarten do not receive a Semester 1 report as per diocesan policy. The Kinder children will, however, receive a brief update report that the school has developed in the interests of the home and school partnership. Kinder parents are invited to attend the parent teacher interviews in Week 10 where they will receive the Student Update Report.
Parent Teacher interview- bookings close tomorrow at 1pm.
Parent Teacher interviews will be conducted in Week 10 of Term 2, commencing Monday 1 July. We invite all families to participate in a Parent Teacher interview to discuss your child’s progress. This is a very important element of the home and school partnership. The interviews are an opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning to date and plan for the future. A letter inviting you to make a booking was sent home last week. The booking period closes tomorrow, Friday 28 June at 1pm. If you haven’t made a booking please do so as a priority. We urge all families to participate in these significant meetings.
Principal Appraisal Thursday 27 June
Thank you to everyone who contributed to my appraisal today through the survey, in person at the parent forum this afternoon or both. I appreciate your feedback and kindness. The matters canvassed with all stakeholders in this process will contribute to my contract renewal and professional learning plan for the next four years. Thank you.
