From the Principal - Mrs Katie Browne
“He cured many who suffered from diseases of one kind or another.”
Mark 1:29-39
Dear Families,
Welcome! I sincerely wish to welcome our new families to our school community and welcome back our current families. I hope that you have had a great break with your families over the Christmas and new year period and feel refreshed. The children all looked happy and content this morning, excited to see each other and be in their new classrooms. The staff spent the first two days reconnecting and diving straight into professional learning.
This Sunday's Gospel reading is about Jesus healing many people. The disciples came to him and said, “Everyone is searching for you.” We are still dealing with ongoing illness and events throughout the world. Everytime we turn on the news there seems to be huge challenges for people. This is why our faith is so important. A deep spiritual connection with God can help us get through the tough times. This term staff will be participating a Christian Meditation as a core practice with the intention of rolling it out across the whole school next term. This researched practice provides much needed stillness in what can be a very busy day.
As the year progresses, we will update you with the progress of our Strategic Plan and our Annual Improvement Plan. We are continuing to focus on engagement in Mathematics as part of our annual plan identifying the key concepts that students need in order to be successful in learning mathematics. This term our focus is on place value as the key foundational skill that students require a deep knowledge and understanding in.
Assemblies will begin in Week 4 and at this assembly we will hand out the swimming medals and ribbons at this assembly. Kindergarten begins on Thursday 8 February. This day is always a big and exciting day and we are very much looking forward to it. The newsletter is the place to go for all your information of what is coming up so please take time each fortnight to read through it. Past newsletters can be accessed through the website.
Looking forward to a great year where we will dive into the strategic plan and recommendations from the cyclic inquiry in 2023 in order to continue to improve this wonderful school.
Thank you and God Bless,

Parents and Friends AGM Tuesday 13 February 7pm
Our next meeting is the Annual General Meeting. The nomination form has been sent out through compass and can be accessed via this link. The Parents and Friends Association is a volunteer committee that supports the school in developing the community. It relies heavily on volunteers to take on roles. The current committee have worked very hard over the past two years to develop systems to make the roles easy to manage and I would like to sincerely thank them for the work they have done in this space. We will be looking for some new people to nominate and take on the executive roles. We will also then be calling on class groups to come together and run at least one event over the course of the year. Many hands make light work and it provides a great way for people to come together and connect. All families are automatically a member of the association and welcome to come to the meetings which are held on zoom. The exception being the annual general meeting which will be in the school Hall. We look forward to seeing you there.
K-2 Parent Information Evening
The teachers of Kindergarten to Year 2 invite you to attend a Parent Information evening on Tuesday 13 February from 5:30 pm in the school hall. This meeting is an opportunity to find out what to expert in infants for 2024. This meeting is important as it will help you to understand how you can best support your child with their learning. Therefore we request that at least one parent try to attend the meeting. We ask that children not come to the meeting so you can be fully engaged in the meeting. We are not in a position to provide care as staff are required to be at the meeting.
Listening Interviews - Week 3
Year 3 - 6 Teachers will be holding listening interviews in Week 3. The booking system will be open next week for parents to make a booking to come and speak with the class teacher/s. These interviews are designed to provide you with the opportunity to share your child strengths and your hopes for them for this year. It is also a good time to check in if your child has any medical issue to make the teacher aware of any updates.
From the Assistant Principal - Mr Simon Farrugia

The students will remain in the grandstand in their cohort group. Parents are not
permitted in the grandstand area or around the pool deck. Parents are welcome to
attend but will need to pay the spectator entry fee upon entry.

The canteen will not be available to our students on the day. Please refrain from purchasing items from the canteen for your child. If you wish to take your child home after their events have concluded, please let the classroom teacher know so the class roll can be adjusted. Students will not be permitted to go home with other parents unless a letter has been sent to the school in advance.
Students who qualify for the next level (Western Region Swimming Carnival) need to turn 8 this year in order to compete at the next level.
