From the Principal - Mrs Katie Browne
“The most common one-liner in the Bible is, “Do not be afraid.” Someone counted and it occurs 365 times.”
Richard Rohr
Dear Families,
Last week was indeed a big week. On Tuesday evening we celebrated Don’s life with his family and friends, staff from St Paul's Moss Vale and St Anthony’s Picton, Catholic Education Office Diocese of Wollongong staff and community members. The above quote is on the back of the memorial card that was distributed at the mass. Don would want nothing more than for those he loved and cared about to ‘not be afraid’. He lived his faith in everything that he did. The opportunity to come together and celebrate his life and gather after was wonderful and gave people a chance to acknowledge the challenges we faced when we could not attend his funeral in person. To the staff and families of St Paul's I would particularly like to thank you for being present at the mass. For those families that were unable to attend we sent home on Monday the memorial card that was made in memory of Don.
On Thursday night we celebrated confirmation. I would like to thank Bishop Brian for leading such a beautiful mass and speaking directly to the candidates with his words of wisdom. I would also like to acknowledge Fr Marek, Miss duBois and Mrs Lambourne for preparing the candidates and organising the mass. It was evident that the students took their commitment seriously and were touched by the presence of the Holy Spirit. The St Paul's community wishes you well as you continue your faith journey.
Rounding out the week was the P&F movie night. Thank you to the P&F for providing such a fun opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a laugh and win a prize along the way. The theme of the movie was about unconditional love. When we give our unconditional love to another then we are truly not being afraid. Jesus taught us to love one another and when we do that we are truly able to experience the presence of God.
I wish all our families and friends a safe holiday. This term has been jam packed full of great things and the children have really demonstrated progress with their learning. Term 4 typically runs away from us at a fast pace but if we take time to rest and re energise we will navigate our way through it without undue stress.
We look forward to seeing the students return on Wednesday 12 October.
Assembly
The assembly will be moved to Friday at 1:00pm for this week only due to the public holiday.
Mission Month
On Tuesday last week Mrs Browne took Eleanar Ragan and Lucas Holmes to the Mission launch at St Thomas More Ruse. Socktober encourages people to rise up against poverty and focuses on a particular country. This year the focus country is Ethiopia. At the launch we heard from a previous citizen of Ethiopia and the challenges the communities face on a daily basis. Next term Year 6 will look at ways we can support Socktober 2022. If you would like to read more about it you can access it via the Socktober Website.
Congratulations Emiko Curcuruto
Emiko competed in the Mackillop Athletics Carnival this week running in the 1500m. Emiko ran a great race coming 6th.
Public Holiday Thursday 22 September
Thursday has been declared a national day of mourning in remembrance of the Queen. School will be closed on this day.
Crazy Hair Day
Students are welcome to wear crazy hair on Friday 23 September for a gold coin donation. This is a P&F fundraiser and funds raised will go towards the purchase of buddy chairs for our school playground. Students are to wear their normal Friday uniform.
Term 4 - Summer Uniforms
In Term 4 students wear their summer uniform. However the first few weeks in Term 4 can still be cold. Parents/carers may use their discretion as to which uniform is the best for your children upon returning to school until the weather warms up.
Pupil Free Days
We will be holding two pupil free days at the beginning of Term 4.
Monday 10 October is a Staff development day and staff will be focusing on assessment and writing. Tuesday 11 October is our staff Spirituality Day. We will not be onsite this day. The school is closed on both days. We look forward to seeing the students return on Wednesday 12 October.

Confirmation
Congratulations to the candidates who made their Confirmation on Thursday the 15th. Bishop Brian invited the students forward during the homily and spoke to them on their level. It was a beautiful Mass and everyone participated so reverently. Please continue to pray for these students and their families as they continue to grow the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.
Christmas Story Art Competition
This year, Year 6 have participated in the Christmas Story Art Competition. This is an initiative of the Catholic Education Offices in Wollongong and Sydney to celebrate and explore children’s creative and artistic ability in illustrating the Christmas story. All students in Year 6 have done an amazing job with their artworks and reflections. The three students selected from St Paul’s to participate in the competition are Antonio De Michiel-Worgan, Alexander De Michiel-Worgan and Nate Williams. We wish these students the best of luck in the competition.
Thank you
