From the Acting Principal - Mr Simon Farrugia
Dear Parents and Guardians,
A very warm welcome back to all our families as we begin Term 4! I hope the school holiday break offered a chance for rest, connection, and rejuvenation. This final term of the school year is always a vibrant one, filled with important learning milestones, school events, and preparations for the year ahead, including our Year 6 students’ transition to high school.
As we return to our school routine, I invite you to reflect with me on the Gospel from Sunday, October 12th (Year C, 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time), the beautiful story of The Ten Lepers (Luke 17:11-19).
In this reading, Jesus heals ten men suffering from leprosy—a dreadful, isolating disease. He simply tells them to "Go and show yourselves to the priests," and as they go, they are all cured. This demonstrates Jesus' immense power and mercy. However, the story takes a turn:
One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan.
Only one of the ten, a foreigner whom the Jewish community often shunned, takes the time to turn back and give thanks. Jesus responds, "Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?"
The central message for us as a Catholic school community is a vital one: Gratitude is the sign of a truly faithful heart.
- God's generosity is universal: Jesus healed all ten lepers, showing His love and mercy are given freely to everyone.
- Our response matters: The nine who kept going received a physical cure, but only the one who returned received a deeper gift. Jesus told him: "Get up and go; your faith has made you well." His act of thanks turned a simple cure into salvation.
As we dive into the busyness of Term 4, let us model the deep gratitude of the Samaritan leper for our children. Let’s encourage our students to pause and recognise the many blessings in their lives—the gift of friends, the joy of learning, the safety of our school, and the unconditional love of God. By consciously giving thanks, we deepen our relationship with Christ and allow His love to truly make us whole.
We look forward to a rewarding and grateful term together.
Blessings,
Acting Principal
Uniform reminders
We have begun to see the new logos coming through on new items and they look great. We will allow the next two years to phase in the updated uniform and by the beginning of 2028 all old uniform items will need to be retired.
Attendance reminders
Regular attendance at school is integral to students’ learning, wellbeing and future life opportunities. Every day of attendance provides students with the opportunity to experience a sense of belonging within their school community, to grow in their faith and to realise their learning potential.
Parents are responsible for: (Taken from CEDoW Attendance Policy)
(a) communicating to the school any concerns they have identified in relation to their child’s pattern of attendance;
(b) working in partnership with the school to plan and implement strategies to support their child’s regular attendance at school;
(c) promptly, and within seven calendar days of the beginning of the leave, explaining to the school any absence of their child from school.
(d) providing to the school reasonable advance notice of any extended absence for their child;
(e) providing to the school reasonable advance notice when seeking an exemption from enrolment or exemption from attendance for their child;
(f) promptly providing to the school any documentation required by the school in relation to attendance or enrollment.
Transition to school
Transition to school is not a single event but rather a process of change that begins well before
students start school or enter high school. For children and their families, transitioning to school is a significant time that can have a considerable impact on a child’s longer-term academic, social and wellbeing outcomes.
Kindergarten 2026 play based transition sessions will begin in week two of this term. ‘Transition to School Through Play’ is designed to enable conditions that support positive educational, social, and emotional outcomes for children and their families while building a sense of belonging to the school community. Successful transition is marked when a child and their family feel a sense of belonging to the school community.
Year 7 2026; our Year 6 students will begin their transition to high school during term four and for many this has already begun. This transition is supported by our St Paul’s staff through transition meetings with the high schools our students will attend. These meetings allow for the individual strengths and needs of the student to be discussed in a confidential environment allowing for a smooth transition academically and socially. Some students will also have an opportunity to visit their future school and meet staff and other students who will also attend that school.
From the Acting REC - Mrs Tania Calla-Hunstone
October is the month of the Rosary
The Month of the Rosary is October, a time dedicated to the Holy Rosary devotion in the Catholic Church. It is celebrated in October because the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary is on October 7th. This month is an opportunity to pray the rosary, which involves meditating on the lives of Jesus and Mary through different sets of mysteries: the joyful, sorrowful, glorious, and luminous mysteries.
Each class will be praying the Rosary daily - you could also do this at home!
Yours in Faith,
Tania Calla-Hunstone
Acting Religious Education Coordinator
Packed Lunches
We kindly ask that parents ensure their child has enough food packed to last through both break times each day. Lately, we’ve had a number of students coming to the office during second break needing extra food, as they’ve run out after the first break.
Your support in helping your child stay nourished and focused throughout the day is greatly appreciated.
Summer Uniform
Just a reminder that students can change over to their summer uniform now if they wish as the days begin to warm up. Alternatively they can still wear their winter uniform until the end of this Term.
Every student should be in their summer uniform by the first day of Term 4 - Tuesday 14th October.
Transition to Kindergarten Playgroups for Kindy 2026
The transition to Kindergarten Playgroups will commence on Tuesday 21st October and run every Tuesday and Thursday for 3 weeks.
Current Year 2 Families - 1:1 Ipad Program
Could current Year 2 families please remember to return the order form for the 1:1 Ipad program by 31st October.

If you intend to withdraw your child from the school, the withdrawal form is available from the office. We currently have a waitlist, so advance notification would be appreciated.
Panadol and Nurofen at school
Nurofen and panadol are not to be brought to school unless a consent to dispense medication form has been completed and signed by a Medical Practitioner (pharmacist, doctor, dentist etc). Students are not permitted to self administer this.
Uniform Items
The school sells sun hats ($16), School Bags ($65) and the girls winter skirt ($54). These are available to purchase from the school office and payment is by cash or eftpos.
Volunteers
If you volunteer at the school, parents or carers need to do an induction by scanning the QR code in the document:
Contact details
It is important that your contact details are up to date. It would be appreciated if you could log onto the Compass Parent Portal and check that your mobile/telephone number and email address are correct.
If you find that they are incorrect, you may update them in the portal.
Please also check that your email address is reachable, we sometimes find that we receive ‘bounce backs’ due full inboxes.
School Fees
From the commencement of the 2025 school year, the management of certain aspects relating to school fee accounts in Primary Schools has been transferred to the School Fees Liaison Office at the Catholic Education in Wollongong.
What does this mean for families:
- Your school’s administration office is your first place for enquiry regarding school fees. School staff will provide information regarding instalments, methods of payment, giving access to an Application for Fee Concession and attend to other general enquiries.
- If you are experiencing financial difficulty or need to make an arrangement for payment of your school fee account, please email sflo@dow.catholic.edu.au with your name and the school in which your children are enrolled. The School Fees Liaison Office will then contact you directly to offer assistance.
- Please note that each school has a dedicated School Fees Liaison Officer to provide a personalised service to individual families. This Officer will also have a close relationship with your school.
If you require further information about this initiative, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Fees will need to be finalised by the end of November.
Injuries
If you child sustains an injury outside of school eg broken arm / leg and they have a cast/sling etc the office must be informed and a letter from the Doctor / ED report must be given to the office so that a risk assessment and care plan can be done for the student.
Only medication that is prescribed by a doctor is permitted to be dispensed at School upon completion of a “Consent to Dispense Medication” form which is available from the office. The form and the medication are to be given to the office staff in the original packaging with the student’s name and dosage. We are not permitted to administer Panadol unless prescribed by a doctor and the necessary form completed. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
If your child is Asthmatic or Anaphylactic please ensure the necessary plan has been forwarded to the office along with any medication so that it can be processed. We also need a "Consent to Dispense Medication" form to be completed. See below.

Tea Towel and Apron Fundraising
We are running a Tea Towel and Apron Fundraiser!
Our limited-edition Tea Towel and Apron design will be made up of self-portraits drawn by all our students and staff. Just like a yearbook on a tea towel/apron. The pictures and names will be arranged all together as a commemorative design then screen printed onto a white 100% cotton tea towel with navy print and the apron will be navy blue with white print.
As well as being great for lint free dish drying, the tea towels look fantastic and are a long-lasting memento of your children and their friends. They make great gifts that are easily mailed to relatives, so make sure you order a few extras for family members and your keepsake box.
The kids just love seeing their artwork in print. By purchasing our tea towels you are not only receiving a practical keepsake, you’re also helping to achieve our fundraising goal, which would not be possible without your support!
The price per Tea Towel is $16.00
(White Tea Towel with Navy Blue Print)
The price per Apron is $18.00
(Navy Blue Apron with White Print)
The print run is limited so make sure you, your family and friends don't miss out.
Tea towels and Aprons can be ordered by going on to the 'Spriggy Schools' App and placing your order.
Final Orders are due by Friday 24th October.
The tea towels and aprons will be handed out at a date to be confirmed in December.
Next term, we’re excited to celebrate Dominican Family Day, which will include our much-loved Grandparents Day on Thursday, November 7th.
This special day provides a meaningful opportunity for our students to honour one of our core values—kindness—while sharing their classroom experiences with grandparents and special friends.
We warmly invite parents, grandparents or special friends to join us for the celebration.
To make the day even more enjoyable, lunch packs will be available for pre-order. These will be delivered on the day by DeliLicious, a local café in Bundanoon.
Lunch pack options:
- Individual Pack – $15
- Pack for Two – $25
(Each pack includes a selection of wraps, a piece of fruit, and a bottle of water or juice popper)
- Gluten-free options are available for an additional $1
Lunch packs can be ordered via the Spriggy Schools App until Friday, October 24th.
We look forward to welcoming our extended school community for this joyful occasion!
